Get your taste buds ready! Tickets are now on sale for the 2018 Horowhenua Taste Trail. The live paddock to plate experience will take place on Saturday 24 November, showcasing 10 of Horowhenua’s specialist food producers.

Now in it’s third year, the Horowhenua Taste Trail provides an opportunity to get behind the scenes of some of Horowhenua’s leading food producers and sample delicious fresh produce, directly from the source.

Horowhenua Taste Trail Chairman Antony Young says “All of our producers are family businesses that are proud to share their history with you as you take a behind the scenes glimpse into the way your food is grown and produced.”

The ten producers on the 2018 Trail are Woodhaven Gardens, Lewis Farms (home to Tendertips Asparagus), Genoese Pesto, Turk’s, Woody’s Free Range Farm, Levin Eel Trading, Thoroughbread Foods, The Ultimate Egg, The Baked Dane and the Bagrie Dairy Farm.”

This year the organisers have enhanced the food offering. Participants will see how the food is produced, then enjoy it in a gourmet form at many of the producer’s sites.

Catherine Lewis, Executive Director, says “We are a Taste Trail so good food is very important to us! This year participants have the opportunity to enjoy the very finest in Horowhenua produce in gourmet dishes prepared by cafés and restaurants on site.”

“On top of this participants can extend their Taste Trail experience and sign up for a series of Savour Events to wrap around their day” says Ms Lewis.

Savour events on offer include: a Long Table Dinner, a Champagne Breakfast, a Chef’s Talk by Annabelle White, a dairy masterclasses by award winning chef Jude Messenger, and a Wind Down Beers and Burgers event.

“Each experience gives participants a closer look at where their food comes from,” Ms Lewis says.
The event welcomes people of all ages, and is family friendly. Tickets are now on sale and numbers are strictly limited.
