The Horowhenua Taste Trail is an adventure through Horowhenua’s specialist food producers. This event celebrates the richness and diversity of all that is grown and produced in this bite-sized region.

Here are our top 10 tips to help make your day extra tasty:
  1. Tickets - print off your ticket and bring this with you to your first site. At the site, exchange your paper ticket for a wristband or lanyard. Once you have this you'll simply show that at each site to get in.
  2. Your first stop on the Taste Trail is your choice! You can choose between one of the eight sites. You can start wherever you like and end wherever you like, and even go to as many sites as you like! If you haven't already found one in a local cafe or library, your adventure guide (aka the map) is available to download from our website - you'll also be able to pick up a hard copy on the day at your first stop.
  3. Bring cash- while most sites have Eftpos a few won’t so make sure you take cash just to be sure you won't miss out on a tasty treat!
  4. Our popular Horowhenua Taste Trail tote bags will be on sale for $7 each at Lewis Farms, Levin Eels, and Woody's Free Range Pork. Make sure you snap one up quickly!  Don't forget to pack a chiller bag to keep all your goodies cool throughout the day.
  5. Photo competition - we want to see your Taste Trail photos! Share them with us on Facebook or Instagram and be in to win a Horowhenua Taste Trail hamper.
  6. Pack a picnic blanket - while most sites have chairs to sit on, you can't beat sitting down with friends and family enjoying a picnic!
  7. Prepare for the weather- lets hope for sunshine- if so bring sunblock, if its a bit wet make sure you dress appropriately so the weather doesn't dampen your day.
  8. What's to Eat? Bring your appetite! Food is pretty important to us... we are a Taste Trail after all! Along with the samples and goodies to buy  here is wee glimpse of some of the yummy food that will be on offer.
  9. Recipe Cards - we have 8 unique recipe cards available for you to collect for free. These will be available at the information stands.
  10. Covered footwear - ladies leave the heels at home, and make sure you wear covered footwear for Bagrie Dairy Farm and the Ultimate Egg Farm Tour.
